[...] The Soundtrack to My Life I forget how long I’ve adored Coldplay, Radiohead, System of a Down, The Verve, Nine Inch Nails, Weezer and Audioslave, but my adoration obviously outlasted a couple of the bands.
[...] The Soundtrack to My Life Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My memories are tangled and intertwined with certain songs or albums. For me, it can set a tone, mimic and amplify my emotions, or set a backdrop. It can lull me into a relaxed state, or it can energize me faster than any cup of coffee. It cradles and comforts me when nobody else understands, or it lifts my spirit and inspires dance. From rousing anthemic celebrations to moving ballads that conjure lost love and dissipated dreams, [...]

Very cool.

And there is a Syncrhonicicreepiness (Synchrocreepy for short) about the Police, Synchronicity album and the fact we all met at Andy's house. Andy so deified Sting he ended up looking like him, a bit, if you add maybe 20 lbs, and 4 inches.

Anyway don't really feel soundtrack to my life, though Goo Goo Dolls Dizzy Up the Girl was the soundtrack to when my first son was born, Wesley, 1999. And around 2004-2005 went through a short "transgressive" death metal phase with a band called "Mulch", U.K., that was my Milarepa "witchcraft" phase

http://www.myspace.com/mulchuk

Throes of Rapture, can still induce a trance like state...

2006 my album was Matisyahu - Live at Stubs (must have been the influence of my Jewish Therapist, or it could be that my nephew is now a Rastafarian with a Rabbinic looking beard, who knows)....

http://www.myspace.com/liveatstubb39smatisyahu

And today in working, came across some of Michael Moore's Homeboys in Flint, Michigan, yes unemployment does tend to produce heavy metal revivals...

Bows to my friend,

Recognizing a good HALF of the groups you mentioned makes me feel only HALF old instead of totally old!! :) As your resident Hawaiian responder, I would say these are some of the highest quality Hawaiian musicians, if you ever feel like going there: Dennis Pavau, IZ, Kahauanu Lake, Keali‘i Reichel, Na Palapalai, and someday you might enjoy checking out Hapa‘s version of In The Name Of Love. :)
Aloha from Maui, FGM
